Waco, Texas

Those of you who like to shop will love Waco's Magnolia Market at the Silos, commonly called Magnolia Market, is a shopping complex that encompasses two city blocks in downtown Waco, Texas. It is marked by two 120’ high silos, built in 1950 as part of the Brazos Valley Cotton Oil Company. The grounds opened to the public in October, 2015.

Oakwood Cemetery
At Oakwood Cemetery, lives lived are remembered. Whether sculpted in marble or carved in granite, there are many ways to be remembered. For more than one hundred thirty-three years, this non-profit cemetery has become the final resting place for over 36,000 great individuals from Texas Governors, University Presidents, inventors, educators, athletes and veterans from as early as the Civil War through current wars.

Today, there are many available and extremely affordable spaces for sale in this 160 acre beautiful and peaceful cemetery filled with tree-lined streets. The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum is located on the banks of the Brazos River, proudly sponsored by the City of Waco and sanctioned by the State of Texas. We preserve the history and inspire appreciation of the Texas Rangers, a legendary symbol of Texas and the American West.

Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum - located just a 3 minute drive from the Hotel. The Museum is located at 100 Texas Ranger Trail, Waco, Texas 76706. The building sits on the banks of the Brazos River, sanctioned by the State of Texas. Baylor Library - State Archive
The Texas Collection is Baylor University's oldest special collections library and serves as the University Archive that collects, preserves, and provides access to materials on the history, heritage and culture of Texas.

The Texas Collection located in the Archives of Baylor University - Houses several special collections, one of a kind manuscripts and other items that may assist in your genealogical research particularly ancestors from Texas. Home of more than 300 Texas legends, the Texas Sports Hall of Fame was the idea of the sports editor at The Beaumont Enterprise. Thad Johnson spoke to the Texas Sportswriters Association during the 1949 Texas High School Coaches Association All Star Games in Beaumont about starting the Hall of Fame. The sports writers unanimously agreed with Johnson and in 1951 baseball great Tris Speaker was the inaugural inductee and Texas became the first state to honor its athletes with a hall of fame.

Waco Mammoth National Monument
Standing as tall as 14 feet and weighing 20,000 pounds, Columbian mammoths roamed across what is present-day Texas thousands of years ago. Today, the fossil specimens represent the nation's first and only recorded evidence of a nursery herd of ice age Columbian mammoths.
