  Irene was the daughter of E. E. and Lucretia Venora White Mason. Her parents are buried in Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring, TX. She married Ross C. Byrd. Their son, Richard Eugene Byrd, is buried in Garden of Memories. OBITUARY: Palestine Herald-Press, Friday, 14 September 1984: Mrs. Snelling ELKHART-Graveside services for Irene Snelling, 72, of Palestine will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, the Rev. Don Pruitt officiating, under the direction of Bailey Funeral home. Mrs. Snelling died Thursday night at Villa Inn Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 26, 1912, in Eastland, a daughter of the late E. E. and Lucretia White Mason. She was a member of the first Baptist Church of Tyler and had been employed by Levi Strauss Co. Survivors include a son, Richard Byrd of Palestine; a brother, Vernon Mason of Aurora, Colo.; two sisters, Hazel Hambright of Midland and Pearl Phillips of Waco; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
