- Earl "Blue Hat" Bowden, 82, of Greenwood, AR passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011 in his home near Greenwood. He was a retired construction laborer, a member of the AFL-CIO, and a pioneer coal miner in this area. Survivors include his wife, June of the home; two sons, Leonard and Ricky Bowden, both of Norman, OK; five daughters, Peggy Spanglo of Okmulgee, OK, Debra Speck of Cushing, OK, Carol McCage of Noble, OK, April Ryland of Moore, OK, and Melissa Robinson of Okmulgee, OK; five brothers, Larry Bowden of Kansas City, KS, Dale Bowden of Hanford, CA, Ron Bowden of Columbia, SC, Johnny Bowden of Panama City, FL, and Bob Bowden of Booneville, AR; four sisters, Earlene Ragle of Greenwood, AR, Lorene Strone of Kansas City, KS, Anna Brasswell of Pointe, TX, Edna Booth of Garden Grove, CA; sixteen grandchildren; and twenty-five great grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Liberty Cemetery in Greenwood under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home. Viewing will be from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M., Friday, April 8th at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
