- WHITESBORO - Memorial services for Fred W. Rankin, 89, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, with Mike Bentley officiating. He will be interred at Elm Branch Cemetery at a later date in Bardwell. Fred passed away on March 19, 2012 in Sherman at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital - WNJ. Fred Wayne Rankin was born on January 30, 1923 to Forrest Marshall and Josephine (Bethune) Rankin in Bardwell, Texas. He married Mary Clark on January 30, 1948 in Rankin. He served his country during World War II as a member of the Army Air Corps. He was proud to be a sixth-generation Texan. He was a garment factory manager for 43 years, most recently for Malouf's Garment Factory in Whitesboro. He preached at the Bristol, Texas Church of Christ and the Rankin, Texas Church of Christ. He was dearly loved by many. He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Rankin of Whitesboro; son, Micheal Wayne Rankin and wife Sandra Kaye of Whitesboro; daughters, Sharon Elaine Rankin of Garland; Linda Diane "Shug" Jones, and husband Eddy of Garland; Lucretia Frederich and husband Ron of Coppell; grandchildren, Regina Lenart of Lucas, Kevin Janway of Whitesboro, Chad Jones of Elgin, Okla., Cody Jones of Garland, Casey Podlucky of Plano, Elise Pruett of Farmers Branch, Olivia Frederich of Coppell; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Polly Rankin; brothers, Joe Rankin, John Rankin, and sister, Jerry Ann Griesenbeck all of Ennis; sister-in-law, Patricia Dunn; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog, Sammy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Josephine Rankin; his brother, Bill Rankin; and his sister, Frances Hoyle. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Clay, Eddy Jones, Ron Frederich, Chad Jones, Cody Jones, Dan Podlucky, Trent Pruett, Steve Lenart, and Kevin Janway.
