905 Information, names, dates, places from Tonda Thomas Jan. 4, 2002 via email. : John Culver enlisted in the Revolutionary Army from Sussex County, Jew Jersey in October 1774. He served under Generals Washington and Lafayette. He was engaged in the battles of Short Hills, Springfield, Morristown and Fairfield. He received a bayonet wound during the battle of White Plains, and was discharged at White Plains, New Jersey on November 14, 1781. This John Culver of New Jersey left New Jersey and spent one summer in the State of Maryland and followed the George Bailey family to North Carolina in 1786. John married Sarah Bailey about the year 1787 in Guildford, NC. He moved to Sevier Co., TN in the year 1796. Culver, Jonathan Jr (I1941)
 
906 Iona M. Reynolds, age 74, of Dardanelle, AR died Thursday, September 6, 2007 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born June 27, 1933 at Pottsville to the late Merrell (Buck) and Audrey Williams Rogers. She is preceded in death by her husband, J. H. (Jay) Reynolds; three brothers, Issac, David and Toby Rogers and a sister, Lillian Dennis. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Debbie Reynolds of Russellville, AR; daughter and son-in-law, Jenavee and George Barber of Dardanelle, AR; sisters, Betty May and Mary Bastin both of Dardanelle, AR; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law of Sacramento, CA and two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law of Dardanelle, AR, Jeri and Bentley Geurian, Muril and Parker Parker, Carry and Betty Reynolds. Funeral service was Tuesday at the Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Rev. Jim Whitlock and Chaplain Rick Smith officiating. Interment was in Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle. 910 Irene was the daughter of E. E. and Lucretia Venora White Mason. Her parents are buried in Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring, TX. She married Ross C. Byrd. Their son, Richard Eugene Byrd, is buried in Garden of Memories. E. and Lucretia White Mason. She was a member of the first Baptist Church of Tyler and had been employed by Levi Strauss Co. 911 J.C. Lilly, 63, of Greenville, passed away December 29, 2011 in Dallas. He was born March 24, 1948 in Greenville to Hiram and Sarah Jane Dickson Lilly. J.C. proudly served his country in the US Army from 1968 to 1970 during the Vietnam War, serving in Germany. He also worked as a newspaper distributor for the Dallas Morning News. He was a member of Vansickle Baptist Church. J.C. is survived by his son Jesse Lilly of Frisco; daughter, Suzann Burks and her husband William of Cash; brother, Calvin Lilly and his wife Joyce of Greenville; sister, Virginia Prieb of Minnesota; uncle, O.D. Dickson of Greenville; grandchildren, Alyssa, Koby, Carolyn Burks; and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Nell Isham and Linda Smith, two brothers, James and Jesse Lilly. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the DFW National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM on Monday, January 2, 2012 at LYNCH Funeral Service in Greenville. Donations may be made to Veteran’s Affairs. He was married to Cathy Haynes Porch, who preceded him in death on March 3, 2011. He was a high school graduate with six years of college. 916 James Newton Shofner, a retired Navy commander of Lincoln County, died last Saturday evening in the Veteran's Hospital in Nashville following a long illness. He was 69 years old. Graveside services were conducted last Wednesday morning at the Stones River National Cemetery in Murfreesboro with the Rev. James Cullipher, priest-in-charge of the St. Mary Magdaline Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, officiating. Ralston Chapel was in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Shofner, a native of Lincoln County, was the son of the late Eugene Forrest and Margaret Hill Shofner. He entered the Navy June 6, 1922, and graduated from the Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland, in 1926. He was discharged in 1946 with the rank of Commander and had lived in Lincoln County since his retirement. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Christine Rainey Shofner, Fayetteville; two sisters, Mrs. Wilson Sullivan, Fayetteville, and Mrs. Norman P. 922 Jerry Wayne Stallings, 55, of Owens Cross Roads passed away Saturday at his home after suffering a heart attack. Originally from Shelby-ville, Tenn., Jerry received his degree in architecture from the University of Tennessee in 1976. After moving to Huntsville that same year, Jerry quickly became active in the community. As a local architect, Jerry left his creative mark in both Alabama and Tennessee. Lastly an independent architect and member of the American Institute of Architects, Jerry was a partner at Jones and Herrin Architects in Huntsville for 20 years. He also served as an officer of the Huntsville Metro Kiwanis Club and attended Rivertree Church in Owens Cross Roads, where he was active for the past seven years. Jerry is survived by his wife, Suzie Willoughby Stallings; stepdaughter, Erin Bell of Owens Cross Roads; in-laws, G.C. and Carolyn Willoughby; many extended family members of Athens, Huntsville, Madison and Navarre Beach, Fla.; brother, Lynn and his wife Susan; niece, Kayley of Murphreesboro, Tenn.; uncle, Dan Farrar and his wife Vivian of Murphreesboro; aunts, Thelma S. Edison of Shelbyville and Marie Crowell of Coffee County, Tenn.; and other extended family members. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cove United Methodist Church, Owens Cross Roads with the Rev. Ross Jeager officiating. 932 John owned Seminole's ice making plant. He also drove a team of mules or horses pulling a "drey" wagon (like a moving van). Once he dragged a man out of the Corner Bar with ice tongs under the man's armpits. The man had evidently called John's brother Dan an insulting name, so John dragged him the length of main street with the tongs.
