    Notes:

Clyde B. Hogan, age 92, died peacefully in his sleep early Wednesday morning, October 3, 2007, at Crestpark Skilled Nursing facility in Marianna. He was born September 15, 1915 in Conway to Lou Lancaster Hogan and Andrew Jackson Hogan and was the husband of the late Emma Leila Hawkins Hogan, and father of the late Martha Delura Hogan. Preceding him in death were his brothers, Doyne Hogan and Milburn "Bo" Hogan, of Conway and a sister, Audrey Hogan Warner of Marianna. A graduate of Arkansas State Teachers' College in Conway, he later attended the University of Arkansas and got his master's degree at Oklahoma State University. Mr. Hogan came to Marianna in 1938 to establish a vocational agriculture program at T.A. Futrall High School. He taught Agriculture, was the high school principal and later Assistant Superintendent of Transportation for the Lee County School District for more than 42 years where he was greatly revered by several generations of students who took from his classroom much more than the subject matter he taught so well. Mr. Hogan was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marianna for nearly 70 years. He taught the Men's Sunday School Class, was a deacon and sang in the choir "to fill a seat." He was a member of Rotary for more than 60 years, with 57 years of perfect attendance. He received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award for outstanding contributions to Rotary International. He organized and led the Marianna Red Cross blood drive for 25 years and received the Chamber of Commerce "Citizen of the Year" award in 1992. He was a man of substance, an unselfish individual who had a genuine feeling for helping others. Especially those close to him understand how deeply he was loved and will be missed. His principles, sincerity and faith guided him well through life. His love, encouragement and gentle spirit touched many lives. He is survived by daughter Rebecca Hogan of Marianna and eight nieces and nephews: Paula Smartt of Knoxville, Tennessee; Dottie Harris of Fayetteville; Bob Hogan of Conway; Turner Hogan of Denton, Texas; Lyda Washburn of Little Rock; Jeanne Johnson of Vancouver, Washington; Joey Moody of Russellville and Lynn Poole of Heber Springs. Additionally, he is survived by three special friends who visited him regularly: Loyd Oxner, who reminisced about the good ole days; Suzy Keasler, who brought him root beer shakes and Pat Audirsch who "trimmed both the hairs on his bald head." The family will receive friends at Roller Funeral Home on Friday, October 5th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Marianna on Saturday, October 6, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow with a graveside service at Crestlawn Memorial in Conway, Arkansas at 4:00 p.m. The family asks that the First Baptist Church, Rotary Club and Community Foundation of Lee County be considered for any memorial.
